There's just a hole into one of their stomachs through their abdomen. It's basically got a rubber or plastic washer holding it open and they use a stopper to plug the hole when they're not messing around in the cow's stomach.

This is so cool. Though, it brings to mind the cow(s) up at UC Davis with the holes/windows in their sides so you can watch their digestive processes. This cows are also cool.

Like you said, I enjoy this stuff. I think it's sad that interesting research is usually dulled down for scientific publishing. So I'm going to try and make what I do at least somewhat interesting.

Thanks Brad! I love that you are sharing your research like this. You do such interesting work. It feels really generous, but I know you also had fun. :)
